Seven Flowers Pomeranian Kennel
Feeding
We always recommend speaking with your veterinarian about your puppy's nutrition needs. Our current dry food recommendations are as follows:
Hill's Science Small Paws (puppy):

Instinct Raw Boost (Whole Grain/puppy):

Our puppies love occasional plain yogurt, plain kefir or farmer’s cheese. 1 Tbl spoon or less as an occasional treat. Too much can upset their tummy. Treats should be limited to 2-3 small pieces a day. We recommend natural freeze-dried treats such as:

Pomeranians can be fussy eaters. If your puppy has skipped 1-2 meals and is extremely lethargic or disoriented, you should take them to the veterinarian immediately.

You should carefully track how much food is eaten every day until the puppy develops regular eating habits. Nutrical – high nutrient supplement for times when the puppy does not feel like eating to avoid blood sugar dropping. It’s great for giving a puppy a boost during stressful periods like adjusting to a new home, vet days, or travel. Water with a little bit of honey can be used in place of Nutrical if a puppy is refusing to eat or feeling stressed.

Eyes
We recommend wiping the eyes daily with Eye Envy solution. It prevents the tear stains from coloring the fur on a white Pom’s eyes. The Bio Groom paste helps whiten the discolored fur over time. A tiny amount of that paste should be placed on the tear stain area and spread evenly. Angel’s Eyes prevent future stains from forming. It can take up to 10 weeks for the existing stains to go away completely. Occasional light massage of the tear duct area will help clear it from clogging.

Fur
The dog should be bathed approximately every 2 weeks. Take care to avoid getting water in their ears. Using a high-quality conditioner is essential to maintain a luxurious coat. Blow-drying helps add volume to the fur. Brush against the growth of fur to add volume to the coat.

Brushing
Daily brushing is recommended to avoid fur tangles. Slicker Brush is soft enough to gently brush the most fragile coats yet strong enough to work through dense coats to remove loose dead hair:

Pin Brush can be used on dry fur and while blow drying to separate each hair to the skin:
Comb (medium/coarse) is used throughout the body to separate the hairs and remove tangles:
Grooming
It is relatively easy to perform basic grooming techniques on your Pom at home. To maintain a clean appearance - trimming the ears, whiskers and paws is sufficient. If you shave the coat, there is a risk that the coat will not grow back. If the coat is damaged, your pom is more likely to have problems with both heat and cold since the fur also protects the skin from sun exposure. This requires careful consideration!

Nails
Trim nails approximately 2 times a month with a good quality clipper. Be sure to avoid cutting the quick as this can bleed and is painful for the puppy. If you don’t trim regularly, the quick will grow farther into the nail and make it difficult to trim. Regular walks on some surfaces can file the nails so they don’t need to be trimmed as often.
Exercise
Leashes should never be attached to the dog’s collar. Neck and throat injuries can easily occur if the leash is pulled or the dog jerks on the leash. Use a harness that fits properly around the chest instead.
Take care to avoid over-exercising your Pomeranian puppy. Two thirty-minute walks along with time to sniff, explore, and play each day should be sufficient. Summer months can be hard on your Pomeranian puppy. The puppy can easily overheat, dehydrate or burn her paws on hot surfaces. Take precautions and watch your puppy closely for signs of distress.
Health
Do not take your puppy to the dog park or let them meet strange dogs until they have had all of her vaccinations. Their immune system is still developing. Please consult your veterinarian before socializing with groups of dogs.
Please do not let the dog jump on and off furniture (especially as a puppy), because Pomeranians are prone to leg and hip injuries.

We hope our puppy brings you and your family lots of joy and happiness!
